Kansas Head Start Association Recognizes Staff, Parents and Friends

On Thursday, January 10, KHSA recognized Kansas and Region VII award winners at the APM meeting. Winners joined member program representatives for a banquet lunch and awards ceremony. Twelve awards were given out to winners nominated by various programs.

  • Renette Langdon (Hays Head Start)- Beating the Odds Award
  • Steven and Shelli Vredenburg (Hays Head Start)- Rutha Weatherl Memorial Parent of the Year Award
  • Chelsea Dickey (Hays Head Start) - Ann Phipps Memorial Scholarship for Head Start Parents
  • Laura Dunn (Hays Head Start) - Curtis Pride Scholarship (Kansas and Region VII Winner)
  • Brandon Goering (Hays Head Start) - Father of the Year Award
  • Ann Leiker (Hays Head Start) - Humanitarian of the Year Award
  • Terry Kilian (Hays Head Start) - NHSA Leadership Award
  • Sheyenne Werner (NEK-CAP Head Start) - Phyllis J. Jones Memorial Scholarship for Head Start Graduates (Kansas and Region VII Winner)
  • Jessica Smith (NW Kansas Education Service Center Head Start) - Phyllis J. Jones Memorial Scholarship for Head Start Graduates
  • Casy Ziegler (Heartland Programs) - Support Staff of the Year Award - Technology Specialist
  • Terry Wilson (Hays Head Start) - Staff of the Year Award - Transition Specialist (Kansas and Region VII Winner)
  • Melinda McDaniel (Hays Head Start) - Teacher of the Year Award
