Community Dental Clinic Grand Opening

The Konza Prairie Community Dental Center held its grand opening for their satellite office on August 5th in Manhattan.  Located in the Riley County Health Department, the new clinic will serve young children and pregnant women who don't have a regular dentist as well as other underserved residents of the community and surrounding area.  The clinic is a partnership among Kansas Cavity-Free Kids, sponsored by KHSA, Manhattan Head Start, Riley County-Manhattan Health Department and Konza Prairie Community Health and Dental Center, based in Junction City.  This is the first partnership of its kind in Kansas, bringing together a safety net clinic, health department, and early learning providers.

Delta Dental of Kansas Foundation provided funding to equip two rooms which will serve children and pregnant women from Head Start/Early Head Start, as well as other young children at risk for dental disease.  Planning for the new clinic involved all the partners, along with community dentists.  At the grand opening, the Manhattan mayor and the Chamber of Commerce President participated in a ribbon-cutting and expressed their appreciation for the new services.
