KHSA Recognizes a Legislative Champion

On Tuesday, February 26 during the Kansas Early Learning Day at the Capitol, KHSA announced to Senator Umbarger that he was selected as their 2008 Legislative Cha
mpion. The award recognizes his leadership on legislative issues that positively impact young children, including the expansion of Kansas Early Head Start over the past two years. He will receive the award at the Region VII Head Start Association conference in Kansas City on May 14, along with champions from each of the other states in our region (Iowa, Missouri and Nebraska). Rebecca Turpen, a parent representative and KHSA board member, presented the Senator with a photo collage of children from his district who are served by Early Head Start and Head Start.
